Apples
Red, golden and green — early, mid-season and late varieties.
Apples are the foundation of our super-intensive orchards. We grow them on dwarfing rootstocks such as M9 on modern trellis systems, and every tree is trained to let as much sunlight as possible into the canopy. This gives even ripening, rich colour and an ideal balance of sugar and acidity across all our varieties — from bright bicolours and deep reds to golden-yellows and crisp greens.
We set the harvest window for each variety with a starch-iodine test, so the fruit is picked at the right maturity for long storage. Graded to a consistent calibre of 65–90 mm and a fruit weight of 150–260 g, the apples go straight into ULO (ultra-low oxygen) storage. The controlled atmosphere sharply slows the fruit’s respiration, keeping its natural crunch, firmness and fresh flavour for months after harvest.

Good to know
Fibre and antioxidants
Apples contain soluble fibre (pectin), good for digestion and the heart, as well as vitamin C and antioxidants such as quercetin. Quercetin is concentrated in the skin, so apples are best eaten unpeeled.
A crisp snack
On its own, an apple is the perfect snack: crisp, juicy flesh and a pleasant balance of sweetness and acidity, sweeter in the golden varieties and tangier in the greens. Kept in the fridge, apples stay crisp for weeks.
Perfect pairings
Their sweet-tart flavour cuts beautifully through the richness of sharp cheddar and aged gouda and adds a refreshing snap to autumn salads. Apples are also a classic partner for roast pork and root vegetables.
